Laffy is a smooth Fox Terrier who became mascot of the Navy Training School (Salvage) in New York City. Ex-lib with stamp on rear fly leaf.

Dust jacket unclipped, has some agewear with chipping about the edges and fading (see image). Boards are bound in pink cloth, black title on spine and front cover board. Some tanning to edges and pages (see image), doesn't affect text or illustrations. In great shape. A charming children's book, early Maurice Sendak illustrations. Great for a collector.

Children's story of a boy and his horse, living on a New Mexico ranch. When the Spanish cavalry needs horses for fighting the Indians, the horse is comandeered, and later captured by a Comanche warrior. Covers with light soil, clean internally, no markings.

Illustrated with four 2-color plates and endpapers art by Richard Rogers. SIGNED BY STACKPOLE on title page. Light pencil marking to pages throughout otherwise a nice, tight copy. Uncommon title of an adventure set on Nantucket Island.

Boys' adventure story utilizing various electrical inventions. Trowbridge (1843-1923), a professor of physics at Harvard for forty years, wrote several adventure novels for young readers utilizing various electrical inventions. Originally published by Roberts Brothers in 1894. Light name on front fly leaf, otherwise clean.

Spine cocked, covers with edgewear, fraying to top of spine. front endpapers with stamp, pastedown, binding firm, pages clean.

Blank endpapers, front & back, with light tanning and ripples from publisher's glue. Dust jacket has darkening to spine and chipping to corners, larger chip to top of spine. Front and rear panels with Shepard's drawings, two spots of soil to front around type of title. This is the first of the four Pooh books and scarcest with a print run of about 4,000. Second state of the true first with ix on contents page.
