The book covers Russian exploration and settlement along the shores of northwestern America, of the Russian -American company and its great general manager, Baranov. A whole chapter on the attempt of Russia to establish a monopoly of the north Pacific in the face of increasing encroachment by British and American traders. Clean copy.
