Ylla was the pseudonym for the Hungarian photographer, Camilla Koffler. A fascinating book of photographs of wild and domesticated animals in India, with text from Ylla's diary. She was killed in an accident on this trip while photographing a bullock race at Bharatpur. A memorable record of a 7 month journey which ended in a tragic accident in 1955. The last photo in this book is the last photo Ylla ever took before she fell to her death from her jeep. In addition to her photographs Ylla left 3 notebooks in which she made almost daily entries - never intended for publication, but as a private record of her impressions and the circumstances under which the pictures were taken. Sticker on front fly leaf, dj price-clipped.
