The photographs of Simeon Schwemberger, who worked as lay brother at the Franciscan Mission of St. Michaels near Windowrock, AZ, from 1901 through 1908. His outstanding photographs of the Native American Indians in that area are coupled with the fine essay by Michele M. Penhall. This photographers work has been compared with the work of Charles Lummis, A.C. Vroman, and J.K. Hillers.
