Many years ago Celia Thaxter wrote a poem adapted from one of the short stories of Count Tolstoy, she called it "The Heavenly Guest". It was later found by her granddaughter, Rosamond Thaxter, in a portfolio which had been loaned to the late Sara Orne Jewett, which was returned after her death.
