Yeats took over the press, continuing Gleeson's work, and renaming it The Cuala Press in 1908. No dust wrapper, as issued. There is some tanning/foxing to last 8 pages including colophon.

Constabulary: The Rise of Police Institutions in Britain, the Commonwealth and the United States
by: Senior, Hereward

Softcover. Toronto CAN, Dundurn Press, 1st, 1997, Softcover, 192 pages, b&w illustrations. The insular character of Britain delayed the creation of professional police until the 19th century. This volume traces the course of British amateur policing until that time, at which point it deals with the foundation of the London Metropolitan Police and efforts to create similar professional urban institutions in New York and Montreal. Due attention is also given to the fact that very different conditions in rural Ireland necessitated the creation of a para-military type of force, which in turn served as the model for police in the countryside throughout the Empire. Clean copy.

Dead I Well May Be: A Novel
by: Adrian McKinty

Hardcover. NY, Scribner, 1st, 2003, Book: Very Good, Dust Jacket: Very Good, Hardcover in a bright, unclipped dust jacket. McKinty's second novel is a brutal tale of revenge starring a young illegal immigrant from Ireland who chooses a criminal career in New York over unemployment in Belfast. Arriving in the city in the early 1990s, the antihero Michael Forsythe lands a spot as an enforcer for Irish mobster Darkey White. Though Forsythe at first keeps his hands relatively clean, he soon racks up a significant number of kills in skirmishes with rival crews as well as with Dominican gangs warring for control of the streets. An affair with his boss's girlfriend leads to a setup: he and his mates are trapped in a drug sting in Mexico and abandoned in a remote prison. "If someone grows up in the civil war of Belfast in the seventies and eighties, perhaps violence is his only form of meaningful expression," McKinty writes early in the novel, and the bulk of the story recounts Forsythe's grisly efforts to escape and avenge himself, including a stint with a Dominican group seeking to oust Darkey White. The pace is brisk and energetic, but Forsythe remains a cipher-a self-educated intellectual who listens to Tolstoy on tape during a stakeout but exhibits puzzlingly little interest in finding an alternative to the gun and the knife. Dublin: A Portrait
by: V. S. Pritchett /Evelyn Hofer (Photographer)

Hardcover. NY, Harper & Row, 1st, 1967, Book: Very Good, Dust Jacket: Fair, Hardcover in a worn, chipped, price-clipped dust jacket. Book is clean and bright with color and b&w photographs by Evelyn Hofer. "Mostly Dublin as it was, in text, as it is, in photographs. Mr. Prichett...provides a historical perspective, indeed devotes himself to this to the near exclusion of current sights. These he leaves to Miss Hofer, whose portraits of aged revolutionaries, mods, seminaries speak a thousand words, whose delineations of Mountjoy Square, the Port are exquistely etched & tinged. The Earl of Wicklow, Lord Mayne, Sean O'Faolain, the death mask of James Joyce ~ high great names; Trinity College, Kilmainham Jail ~ historical presences are here. Taking as his main theme the relations with the English, Mr. Pritchett notes that "the inevitable politics remain, but the quarrel is over." Front flap creased, clean copy.

Hardcover. Tallahassee FL, Sentry Press, 1st, 1989, Book: Very Good, Dust Jacket: Very Good, Hardcover in a bright dust jacket, 224 pages, b&w photos. Signed by Rogers and inscribed by Kate Ireland, owner of Foshalee plantation, on the title page. Foshalee Plantation is a historic quail hunting estate located in northern Leon County, Florida, approximately 12 miles north of Tallahassee, within the Red Hills region spanning the Georgia-Florida border. Originally encompassing around 11,500 acres, it was established in the early 20th century as one of the oldest continuous private quail preserves in the area, transformed from former cotton lands into a managed hunting retreat for northern elites. The plantation, associated with prominent families including the Whitneys, Clarks, Irelands, and Ingalls, emphasized bobwhite quail production through practices like prescribed burning and multi-aged forest management, reflecting the broader shift in the region from agriculture to sporting conservation after the Civil War.
