I Could Read the Sky: A Novel (SIGNED COPY)
by: Timothy O'Grady / Steve Pyke (Photographer)

Hardcover. London, Harvill Press, 1st, 1997, Book: Very Good, Dust Jacket: Very Good, Hardcover in a translucent dust jacket, 165 pages. Illustrated with Steve Pyke's b&w photographs. SIGNED BY BOTH O'GRADY AND PYKE on the title page. Stranded in a dismal flat in England, the protagonist remembers his happy childhood in Ireland, the rough living and working conditions in England, and his only love. The language is quite simple and often Hiberno Irish, but deeply imaginative and so lyrical, that the line between prose and poetry gets blurred. The beautiful black/white pictures added to this book, and the author's ability to portray Irish music help to give an insight into Irish culture. Clean copy.

I Hear Voices: A Memoir of Love Death and the Radio (INSCRIBED COPY)
by: Feraca, Jean

Hardcover. Madison WI, University of Wisconsin Press/Terrace Books, 1st, 2007, Book: Very Good, Dust Jacket: Very Good, Hardcover in a bright dust jacket, 164 pages. Jean Feraca's road to self-fulfillment has been as quirky and demanding as the characters in her memoir. A twenty-five-year veteran of public radio broadcasting, Feraca is also a writer and a poet. She is a talk show host beloved for her unique mixture of the humanities, poetry, and journalism, and is the creator of the pioneering international cultural affairs radio program Here on Earth: Radio without Borders. In this searing memoir, Feraca traces her own emergence. She pulls back the curtain on her private life, revealing unforgettable portraits of the characters in her brawling Italian American family: Jenny, the grandmother, the devil woman who threw Casey Stengel down an excavation pit; Dolly, the mother, a cross between Long John Silver and the Wife of Bath who in battling mental illness becomes the scourge of a Lutheran nursing home; and Stephen, the brilliant but troubled older brother, an anthropologist who was adopted into a Sioux tribe. Unique, eccentric, and distinctive, I Hear Voices is a memoir that tells a universal story of a woman evolving to fully embrace her life and the world. INSCRIBED BY AUTHOR on title page. Handwritten letter also laid in.

J.R. Solonche: Selected Poems 2002-2021 (SIGNED COPY)
by: Solonche, J. R.

Softcover. South Orange NJ, Serving House Books, 1st, 2021, Book: Very Good, Dust Jacket: None, Softcover, 432 pages. SIGNED BY SOLONCHE on the title page. A generous offering of his favorite poems from past books, including the two nominated for the Pulitzer Prize, Invisible (2017) and Piano Music (2020) and the 2020 Shelf Unbound Notable Indie Book, The Porch Poems. In her introduction to Selected Poems: 2002-2021, Grace Cavalieri says, 'The absolute best remark I can make about this book is that I would give it to non-readers of poems as a conversion to poetry, for its language is as available as rain; hopeful as sunshine; and fresh as the wind. It's a perfect book to let the reading public know that this is America's poetry. This is a serious book disguised as playfulness, and we are its lucky recipients. 'J.R. Solonche has published poetry in more than 400 magazines, journals, and anthologies since the early 70s. Clean copy.

Jackstraws: Poems
by: Charles Simic

NY, Harcourt , 2000, Book: Very Good, Dust Jacket: None, Softcover, 84 pages. SIGNED BY SIMIC on the title page. In this new collection of sixty-two poems Charles Simic paints exquisite and shattering word pictures that lend meaning to a chaotic world populated by insects, bridal veils, pallbearers, TV sets, parrots, and a finely detailed dragonfly. Suffused with hope yet unafraid to mock his own credulity, Simic's searing metaphors unite the solemn with the absurd. He received the Pulitzer Prize for poetry in 1990.
