Morgan Andrew Robertson [1861-1915] was an American author and the self-proclaimed inventor of the periscope. This title is apparently his rare first book- a narrative poem about heaven versus the devil. B&w frontis and great text illustrations by A. Carey K. Jurist. Inscription on front fly leaf, otherwise clean.

Hardcover. NY, Harper & Brothers, reprint, 1924, Book: Good, Dust Jacket: None, Hardcover in black gilt-stamped cloth. Copyright page states 1924 with a K-Y code. No date on title page. A collection of satires written by poet Edna St. Vincent Millay under pseudonym as "Nancy Boyd." Millay offers a preface under her own name to "Boyd's" work, and writes, "I take pleasure in recommending to the public these excellent small satires, from the pen of one in whose work I have a never-failing interest and delight." Millay had written and published these dialogues and short-short yarns in a range of monthly magazines during the early twenties, the period of her greatest popularity and the period during which she wrote some of her most memorable and somber poetry. Gilt lettering is bright on cover but faded on spine. Spine cracked at half-title page, name on front fly leaf.

These are thick pages with glossy color plates on most every page. This edition is the first illustrated edition of the poetry which was first published in 1870 .

Beautifully illustrated edition of this wonderful anthology of tragic and erotic poetry written by Nicolson (1865-1904), who created a scandal when these were first published in 1901 when she tried to pass them off as translated from classic erotic Indian poets. Shaw (1872-1919), was considered one of the most important pre-Raphaelite painters, and the Garden of Kama as his best illustrated work.
