An illustrated collection of familiar nursery rhymes, including "Old Mother Hubbard," "Sing a Song of Sixpence," and "Three Little Kittens" each with color pop-up spreads.

In this technical tour de force, father and daughter combine origami-style figures and intricate pop-up effects into six spreads and a double gatefold of paper magic. The art evokes common materials, from a whirl of newspaper doves or passport pages made into sailboats to legal-pad-paper ducks swimming in a desktop "pond" of spilled coffee and, for a spectacular finish, an array of Chinese take-out menus and cartons falling prey to a hungry dragon's attack. Hard blue and red covers with white titles and yellow graphic illustration, full page b&w illustrations. Very slight rubbing to covers, pages clean, crisp and unmarked, binding stiff and tight; an excellent copy of a beautiful and unusual book.

Plays are meant to be seen, and this interactive book features a fold-out model of the Globe Theatre in its heyday, complete with stage, galleries, thatched roof, and spectators ready for a performance. Selected punch-out characters from 12 of Shakespeare's plays are included (and attached to a small cardboard handle to allow for easy manipulation), as are two removable scripts that include monologues and/or scenes in which the characters appear.
