Ylla was the pseudonym for the Hungarian photographer, Camilla Koffler. A fascinating book of photographs of wild and domesticated animals in India, with text from Ylla's diary. She was killed in an accident on this trip while photographing a bullock race at Bharatpur. A memorable record of a 7 month journey which ended in a tragic accident in 1955. The last photo in this book is the last photo Ylla ever took before she fell to her death from her jeep. In addition to her photographs Ylla left 3 notebooks in which she made almost daily entries - never intended for publication, but as a private record of her impressions and the circumstances under which the pictures were taken. Fun, engaging, color illustrations with text below throughout. Stitch binding with a few stitches missing, but still intact with no pages missing. The gray paper-covered boards are bound at the spine in gray cloth, and the front board has a full coloured pictorial panel pasted to it, with a scene of the Ark on a white background, with red and black lettering. Red cloth spine. Back cover's illustration has been romoved from board. Back cover board has been previously torn off and repaired with tape. Previous owner stamp on preliminary page with a crayon decoration. Some stray makes made with pencil on back cover board. Pages clean inside. In good condition for its age.

This book covers detailed illustrations of various methods of shoeing with special directions "for shaping shoes to cure different diseases of the foot".

The loyal townsfolk bring gifts, and the babies are named before being weighed by wise Dr. Capoulosse (he of the stern expression and pince-nez).
